I wanted to let you all know that LookTel has just released a free training app that is great for new iPhone or iPod users.

The new free LookTel VoiceOver Tutorial app provides a basic introduction to VoiceOver and the gestures used throughout iOS. Persons new to VoiceOver and iOS are guided through the tutorial with a pleasant mix of facts and entertainment.

This is a great teaching tool for new iPhone users so that they can take advantage of paid apps like Money Reader!

Hope you like this free app and learn about the gestures of VO when having fun with your iDevice.

Parent Session: Safety in Today’s Times

The next Parent session for Club VIBES will be about Safety in Today’s Times.

Police Investigator, Tom Evans of the Knoxville Police Department will be with us from 6:30pm until 8pm on Thursday, May 9th. Tom will talk about social media and internet safety along with personal safety in general. Parents will not want to miss this one.

We hope that our Club VIBES members, above the age of 12, will participate with us too. This session may lead to future family discussions on the need for good communication within the family and to develop guidelines on texting, social media use and talking about situations that need to be reported, etc.

Please bring questions that your family may have to this session. They will be welcomed.

Snacks will be provided. Please RSVP to Sue by May 1st. We hope to see a crowd!

A Big Thank You! We appreciate River Sports Outfitters for hosting Club VIBES April 2nd at “Pint Night”. We were so excited to share the evening with over 350 of our friends and supporters. We cannot thank you enough for taking your time to come out and support us!

Spring Flower Sale

Club VIBES members are selling flowers this spring as a fundraising effort. Proceeds will be used to cover expenses that will be incurred as we travel to San Diego California in the summer of 2014 to participate in the Cycling for Sight tandem bike tour. We are offering three varieties of hanging baskets for sale through April 21st.

Boston Fern (lots of shade)

New Guinea Impatiens (morning sun and evening shade): available in White, Orange or Lavendar

Petunias (full sun): available in Purple, White, Red and Pink

All baskets are from Stanley’s Greenhouses in Knoxville and will be of exceptional quality. Each basket is $18.00 and checks should be made payable to Club VIBES. These plants make a great Mother’s Day gifts and will be delivered to you on May 3rd or 4th. Please know that Club VIBES cannot be responsible for plant care beyond these dates.

Belk Charity Sale – Tickets are on sale!!

Club VIBES will be participating in the Belk Charity Sale on Saturday April 27th. Belk will be open from 6am until 10am for this private ticketed event. A $5 donation to Club VIBES ‘buys’ you a ticket for $5 off your Belk purchase on the day of the event. The first 100 customers at each store on that Saturday will receive a Free Belk Gift Card valued anywhere from $5 to $1,000.

To purchase a ticket, contact Club VIBES before the day of the event. If you are unable to obtain a ticket before April 27th, a Club VIBES representative will be at the door with tickets the day of the event. We hope to see you there!

We Can’t Wait To See YOU at Pint Night

Tuesday April 2nd is Club VIBES Pint Night at River Sports Outfitters. This is a way River Sports Outfitters helps raise money for local charities/organizations and brings awareness to who they are and what they do. The first 200 people get a free pint glass with our Club VIBES logo, the Horny Toad Activewear logo and a Pint Night logo. The first fill up is free! Each additional fill up is $5 and it all goes to our charity. River Sports Outfitters will also give 10% of proceeds from sales in the store between 6p-9p to Club VIBES. They will also raffle prizes for donations.

Tell your friends that Club VIBES needs them and share the “Pint Night” details on your Facebook and/or Twitter account. We look forward to seeing you at River Sports on April 2nd!

ETTAC April Movie is Announced

The next ETTAC accessible movie night has been announced. Soul Surfer, the inspiring true story of Bethany Hamilton, will be shown on Friday April 12th at 7:00pm. There is no cost for the movie and popcorn and snacks will be available at a minimal charge. Call ETTAC today at 865-219-0130 to register.

Update on February 17th Tandem Ride

If the weather is 45 degrees or above, Sunday, February 17th from 2:00 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. is our next tandem bike event. This ride will take place on Cherokee Boulevard and we will plan to try to gather for a quick bite afterwards. We are planning for a bike trip this summer and hope to tell you all about it during the after ride meal. So RSVP to Sue Buckley if you plan to come out and ride.

P.S. Plans are also in the works for a July 2014 ride in California. You game?
