Cycling for Sight Was A Success

The Cycling for Sight teams have completed their ride in California and are back in Knoxville. Here is a first hand report from Sue Buckley.

Our West Coast trip was a dream…

Twelve Club VIBES Tandem Team Crew members traveled out to San Diego for the 10th annual Blind Stoker Club fundraising event in support of the San Diego Center for the Blind this last month. The trip was more than we expected. Every one of our volunteers as well as our visually impaired members had a total and complete blast. Not only did we have time to tandem bike prior to the two day event ride we also had a three hour surfing and boogie board lesson by the area Challenged Athlete Foundation team. Lunch on the beach was cooked for us and we enjoyed meeting new surfing friends.  We also visited the Mid-Way museum for a touch of history and walked in the sand along the beach at sunset. If you had a chance to see our amazing Facebook posts you will see the smiles across the miles that we had together. (Friend us on Facebook and come see)  What a wonderful bonding experience and learning opportunity for all of us!

One very important thing we learned; we have a tremendous group of Pilot volunteers dedicated to the program and our membership. Thanks to all who made this trip happen for our Club. We could never say thanks enough. It was truly a life changing trip with many new experiences that took us out of our comfort zone and made us tighter as a team. Rumor has it that many are already talking about a trip to Florida in our future. Stay tuned.
